learning to read system that not only allowed us to teach our children to read before turning 3 years old, but also enabled our children develop such robust reading abilities that by the time our daughter was just 4 years 2 months old, she was already reading at a grade 3 level. The little girl you saw in the first video above is our daughter, Raine. We began teaching her how to read when she was 2 years and 8 months old.
The second video shows the reading progress of our second child, Ethan, at 4, 8, and 11 weeks of reading instructions. As you can see, both children were able to develop superb phonemic awareness and decoding skills, and were able to read phonetically.
Being busy parents ourselves, we spend on average 10 to 15 minutes each day teaching our children to read.

Using your lessons, I started teaching my son to read at 14 months.
At the beginning, I thought he might be a bit young but I gave it a shot and followed your guide.
I taught him slowly until he's solid with each lesson before moving onto the next.
By the time he was 18 months, we completed stage one.
Now at 2 years and 4 months,
he can read an entire book by himself!
Curious of his reading level, I did a reading assessment on him and he is reading at a 2nd grade level!
My husband is so proud he's been telling everyone about our son's reading skills.
And his love for books and reading brings so much joy to our family.
We used to read to him before bedtime, but
now he picks out his own books and reads to us
.
Throughout the day, when there's no noise to be heard, we know he's having quiet time with his books.

The best is when
we took him to the golf course, he went up to a sign and read "no chipping" and the man near him was shocked.

Since he started baby school at our church, the compliments are nonstop.
His teacher asks us if we've been teaching him to read.
We told her he started at 14 months and now he's reading at a 2nd grade level.
She was amazed and told us he was reading the bible verse on the coloring sheets.

I am so happy with your product, it is amazing! Well worth the investment,
because after a month, Portia started reading. The 1st  3 weeks were rough, but
it just clicked one day, and its been smooth sailing since. I'm not going to
lie, I did take a slight detour, and started adding my own words as a test, and
it was successful.
Portia read her 1st  2 small Leap
Frog books on her own the day before Mother's day, and has read a total of 6 or
so now. I owe that to your program, thank you so much! Her teachers teach
reading a little different, but when I showed her teachers what she was doing,
one cried. :)
So, again, about 1 1/2 weeks ago, making a word plural
(adding "s") just clicked, so she is now reading the cards with multiple small
words on them. I don't remember the lesson #, sorry.
Portia turned 4 at
the end of Feb., and we started the program close to the end of March. Truth be
told, I have not been good at doing it multiple times a day like you suggest,
and I still have amazing results. We probably do this one time a day, usually at
night, and even miss a day here or there.
Yes, Jim, you may post this
video, and I will be happy to send more. I want to make a video of her reading
her books too. It's so exciting to see all of this happening. You gave us the
tools to teach phonics, which in turn taught Portia how to read, not memorize
(which My Baby Can Read did NOT)!  I invested in that program when she was a
baby, the only thing she got out of it was naps and hearing nursery rhymes and
songs. HUGE waste of money!
Again, Jim, thank you so much for making
such a wonderful product, and helping me teach my daughter to read; I just wish
I saw this sooner!

We are progressing well. My son, who is 6, was very hesitant at
first with doing the program, but he's jumped on board quit nicely. My son has a
speech impediment, and reading is not something he enjoys.
I do a lesson every Monday evening and we
work on that lesson through out the week. He brought home his report card this
Friday and we were so excited that
he went from an 81 to an 87 in Language
Arts
. Let's just say that Language Arts is not his favorite subject, but he has
managed to bring his grade up to a very high "B". Of course we would be proud of
him regardless, but its nice to be able to have proof to show him that
practicing his reading has rewards.

Our baby

. Using your program
concepts, we were able to teach our child the ABCs before being physically able
to pronounce them well. Letter recognition was acute before 15 months. Baby
follows well through each session. To baby, signs on walls, words in books,
letters on the PC keyboard and other objects are fascinating. Before learning
letter combinations, and when we were consistent with the training process, wife
and I were surprised one evening when baby looked at a sign (hand written "wet
paint") on the inside wall of a building, took a few moments on each of the
beginning letters and then exclaimed, "Wet paint!" a few times.
This occured
around 14 to 15 months old. We started the program with baby around 9 months
old. We are very pleased with the program and excited there is a community of
individuals who share our sentiments of a child's ability to learn.

The book was really helpful. It helps my daughter who is 5 years old to read simple words now which was a nightmare before as I didn't know how to teach her properly. Unfortunately, I was not able to follow the consistency of teaching them daily as both me and my husband are not only
full-time parents but
full-time employees too, therefore, we are not around daily during children's time which is between 8am-8pm, so I can only do it when I am on a day-off. With that, I only manage to teach the 1st book and will still be going on to the 2nd book.
My son who is 3 years old is reading little by little which is a good sign.

I have tried to make a few videos for you so that you can see for yourselves. They aren't great quality as they were filmed on my phone and there also only 1 minute each. (Sorry I will get better at all this tecnology stuff one day).

We have been working through the programme every night just before bedtime story and he really enjoys it. 
We have been doing it with my daughter too but she doesn't really have a great attention span at the moment (she's only two) although she is definitley picking up bits as we go along. (I will try to get some videos of her, although she is a little camera shy).
I really cannot rate this reading programme highly enough, it has been great for my son and I have no doubt that he will be reading fully by the time he goes to school in September.

I have two children - Oscar who turned 5
in August and Sarah who turned 3 in
September. Anyway, I got this programme for my son.
The reason why I started
to look for some programme for my son's reading in
the first place was that
the teachers at his reception class told me that
Oscar was not able to say
some sounds correctly (a bit delayed compared
with other children in his
class). Although he was only four and youngest
in his class, it made me
worry, and started to notice his pronunciation
issues (bad habits).
Even though the teachers pointed out the
issue, they did not seem to have
any clue how to work on this matter and did
not try to help my son much.
The books they gave Oscar as homework was not
structured for him to learn
step by step, and confusing.
My wife and I took
him to a speech therapist
via National Health Service, who told us that we
should not work on his
sounds because we can "put him off" and wait for 6
months until the next
appointment after the initial assessment.
But, I knew
that it is a long
time to wait (Oscar will reinforce his own bad habits of
saying wrong
sounds while we wait).
So, I started to help him every day with his sounds/speech.
But, all the materials I came across did
not have any
step by step and systematic approach for my child to learn
reading and
learning sounds, then I found your programme on the internet,
which I have
found extremely helpful.
I really like it because it breaks
down reading
and decoding sounds into most basic steps, and children learn
them step by
step logically.
I must admit that I cannot always make it fun
for Oscar,
but his reading ability has improved dramatically and his
pronunciation
issues almost gone - in the end, the speech therapist said actually
Oscar does
not need to have any practice session because he can now say all
the sounds
correctly.
He has also gone up to the highest level in his
reading books
which his school (class) gives him for his homework.
A few
months ago he
was almost at the bottom of his class in his reading but now
has gone up so
much.
At the moment, Oscar is still doing lesson 4,
Stage 2 on your reading
programme.
He still needs
to learn a lot more but I am extremely pleased with
his improvement so far,

The Matthew Effect in Reading: Children Who Fall Behind at Reading Will Likely Have Lifelong Reading Problems, but
Early Reading
Leads to Greater Success
Won't all these children who
read poorly catch up to their peers eventually? Research has shown that this is one of the most dangerous myths perpetuated.
If a child's reading difficulties are not address early, chances are that child will never acquire sufficient reading skills.
This is known as the Matthew Effect in Reading. Please see chart below:


The Matthew Effect of Reading describes how early success in learning to read leads to greater success later on in reading skills development, with spillover effects into all other academic subjects. On the other hand, a poor reader who fails to develop proficient reading skills by grade 4 will likely have a lifelong problem with reading and learning new skills. The chart above shows the differences in reading abilities between children who enter school with foundational reading skills compared to children without these critical foundation skills. At kindergarten and even grade 1, this gap in reading performance is small; however, this gap becomes exponentially greater by the third grade. By the fourth grade, helping children to overcome reading difficulties becomes time consuming, and frustrating for the child. It is also usually unsuccessful.

I would like to tell you the final result turned to be an absolutely great success! His full day camp teacher said on Monday that Sam reads crazily in the waiting time (about 45 minutes to an hour). Three books on Monday 12/31 (one is "Pete the Cat") and 36 pages of "Curious George Flies a Kite" today Wednesday 1/2. We started your program on 10/3 and tomorrow 1/3 will be the end of the 3 months. We love your program!!
Our younger son Sam just about to turn to 6 when we started your program on October 3rd. He is a kindergartner in a ranking 10 public school at east bay of California and had been in two Montessori schools for two year before attending the public school. Though he is very advanced in math, he was always reluctant to read. He can recite the whole books after his dad read a few times for him, but just resist to read by himself. I felt that was because he did not have the confidence to read. He was a very sensitive child and would not do things that he was not sure. And I did not know how to teach him effectively and make him enjoy reading.
When his school required reading one book each day, I thought it was the child who has to read and was frustrated by the school's demanding so much, but not teaching anything but letters and coloring (the things that should be for 2 years old or younger). I decided to find a way to teach my son to read progressively and make him enjoy reading in the shortest time.
I search internet and found your program - one of the best things in my life!!
I was so thrill that someone already knew what we need desperately and developed such a smart way to teach children reading. I also realized that this was what I had been looking for. Coming back to Sam's learning, the first week was the easiest. Since he is 6 years old, we were able to complete 2 or 3 lessons a day, each day in 10 minutes. I planned to let him to complete the whole program in one month. However, it took 3 months exactly, just as the program was arranged.
I decided to teach him whenever we have the time (2 to 3 times a week during lunch pick up time or weekend, but sometime longer than 10 minutes). We completed successfully the 1st stage within a month, but the second stage took longer.
He just broke though this week, starting enjoy reading all by himself since Monday 12/31.
He is so happy that he can read without help, telling me with joy how much he read every day when I came home

Using Whole Language Only Learning Methods May Cause Your Child to Struggle With Reading
The "whole language" method of learning to read is a
controversial approach to teaching reading. With the whole language method, students are expected to simply look at a word and say it out. This approach to learning reading is very much a "word shape memorization" plan, and it is also known as sight reading. In fact,
one very popular
(and expensive) program that claims to teach even babies to read is a whole language learning method.
With the whole language learning to read method, the child is supposed to "learn to read" words by their total configuration. In this "look and say" approach, a young child memorizes the shape of the word, and recognizes the word by its configuration without developing any real understanding of the relationship between the individual components of a word as related to its whole. With this whole word learning approach, the child is being taught to read English as if it were an ideographic language such as Chinese! This is just absurd!
The major drawbacks of the whole language method is that children who learn to read this way may guess, skip over, or replace words that they don't know, and this quite often leads to children being unable to learn how to read. This method puts severe limitations on how many words a child can learn to "read", or memorize.
The disadvantages of learning to read by the whole language method has been widely proven in scientific research. Large amounts of research in the past few decades have shown that teaching phonemic awareness produces the best reading results in Children. In fact, after an extensive review of over 1,960 clinical studies, the National Reading Panel has gone as far as to say
that
"teaching phonics and phonemic awareness produces better reading results than whole language programs. Teaching phonemic awareness improves a child's reading, reading comprehension, and spelling abilities
."
The NRP findings also indicated that teaching to read programs involving
phonemic awareness is far superior at improving a child's reading ability than a learning to read program that does not involve phonemic awareness instructions at all.

Living in a country with 11 official languages everyone can speak at least 2 languages and bits and peaces of others. My husband is an English teacher and has developed his own system and has written a book to teach English tenses to second language learners.
I believe your system could work on all alphabetical based languages. I also realize the sounds is different but the same principles apply to learning the sounds first. Once the basic sounds of every language is mastered one just continue to teach the rest.
English is my second language. Our home language is Afrikaans as is the teaching language for my children at this stage. I don't want to teach them just to read in English without being able to master their own language. Afrikaans is a fairly new language that started developing in South Africa from Dutch, German, English and French in.the late 1800's. It is also very close to Flemish. Teaching them to read their own language together with English will give them a good foundation to learn any of the above mentioned European Languages should they want to.
As I go through your lessons I am going to work out my own Afrikaans lessons. As I get into routine with Afrikaans I am going to teach them English and Afrikaans since they have to learn English as a main subject from Grade 1. My son is in Grade 1.
